The Canadian-born Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi started his poker career by becoming a top-ranked Internet pro.
In early 2006, he decided to make it a resolution of sorts to become an online tournament master. He now consistently sits in the top spots of online poker leader boards with his extremely aggressive play and by-the-instincts rather than by-the-math strategies.
Mizzi parlayed his Internet winnings into buy-ins and deep cash wins in live tournaments.
His finishes include on in the 2006 UltimateBet Aruba Poker Classic championship event (10th place, for $29,800) and, most recently, the 2007 Irish Open where he took third place and pocketed more than $280,000.
At the 2007 World Series of Poker, he cashed three times, including the main event.
